Welcome to La Susa’s Bakes ~N~ Sweets, a little cottage bakery in Florence, Arizona with deep Chicago roots, and two families at the table.
My roots are in Hyde Park, on Chicago’s South Side and then the North Side from my teenage years into adulthood. I’m biracial, and I learned to cook from scratch beside my mom, Donna Ann, in a kitchen where food was love, where you used what you had and you fed everybody.
Jason’s roots are different, and they matter just as much. He comes from a South Side Italian family, and his family has trusted me with their Italian recipes, some of them 100 years old or more. That Italian heritage found its way into my world through Jason and his family, and I’m still learning those traditions, right alongside the ones I grew up with.
Now both of those tables have come home to the desert. Here I bake reduced-sugar, healthier treats with fresh local eggs and dairy, the recipes I grew up with and the recipes his family shared with me, and a whole lot of love in every single bite.

A starter with a story even older than ours is on its way to our kitchen, a heritage starter from the Oregon Trail. When she is awake, fed, and baking, we will launch a small heritage line of loaves and bakes made with her. Watch the newsletter for her arrival.

Most of our menu is made to order, just for you. Order by Wednesday at 6pm for Friday or Saturday pickup — just text (480) 319-4211. Drive Up pickup at 23776 N. High Dunes Dr, Florence, AZ 85132: pull up, and we bring it right out to your car.

Small batches already on hand can be purchased right away. Right now that means our Fox & Rabbit Co. seasonings, plus occasional special pop-ups with limited inventory, announced ahead of time — a quick poll of what you are craving, a pop-up, or a market and vendor event.
