A Little Taste of Home: The Heart Behind La Susa’s Bakes~N~Sweets
My Arizona cottage home bakery was never meant to be just a business. It was built around my life, my family, my memories, and all the beautiful, messy moments that make a home what it is.
For me, baking has always been about more than flour, sugar, butter, and a recipe. It’s about the memories tucked into an old family recipe, the stories shared over a cup of coffee, the traditions we carry forward, and the love we show people in the simplest ways.
Some of my inspiration comes from childhood memories, the food I grew up with, and the kitchens that helped shape who I am. Some comes from the family I’m building today, the traditions I’m learning, and the Italian heritage that has found its way into my world through Jason and his family.
And some? Well, some comes from me standing in my kitchen with flour on the counter, coffee within reach, a recipe that isn’t cooperating, and absolutely no idea how things are going to turn out. π
That’s real life, and that’s real baking.
La Susa’s Bakes~N~Sweets is growing right alongside me. I’m learning, experimenting, celebrating the wins, laughing at the flops, and sometimes wondering what on earth I was thinking when I started a particular project.
But through it all, one thing remains the same: I want what comes out of my kitchen to feel like home.
That means traditional favorites, family-inspired creations, artisan breads, homemade sweets, and treats made with alternative sweeteners for those who want something a little different. It means honoring the old while making room for new traditions.
It also means sharing more than just the finished product. I want you to see the person behind the apron, the family behind the inspiration, the chaos behind the counter, and the stories behind the recipes.
Because life isn’t picture-perfect, and neither is my kitchen. Some days the bread is beautiful. Some days the cinnamon buns have other plans. And some days the best thing that comes out of my kitchen isn’t even something you can eatβit’s a conversation, a memory, or a story someone shares with me.
That’s the part I didn’t expect when I started sharing my baking journey. This little business is becoming about community, connection, and people sharing pieces of their own lives right alongside mine.
So when you see a post from La Susa’s Bakes~N~Sweets, I hope you see more than a home bakery in Arizona.
I hope you see a family, a lifetime of memories, a whole lot of determination, a little bit of chaos, and a woman who believes food has a way of bringing people together.
I’m not here to pretend I have it all figured out. I’m here to share the good, the mid (as the tweens say), and the BAD. I’m here to keep learning, keep baking, keep laughing, and keep putting a little piece of myself into everything I make.
Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just about building a bakery.
It’s about building something meaningful around the life I’m already living, the family I love, and the memories I hope to create along the way.
Welcome to my kitchen. Grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair, and stay awhile.
There’s always room for one more at the table. β€οΈ
