What People Don’t See Behind the Scenes of an Arizona Cottage Home Bakery

People see the beautiful loaves of bread, the cookies fresh out of the oven, the little cakes ready for pickup, and the delicious treats that make their way to someone’s kitchen table.

But what people don’t always see is everything that happens before that first bite.

Behind every order at La Susa’s Bakes ~N~ Sweets is a real person, a real home, a whole lot of flour, more coffee than I’d probably care to admit, and a whole lot of hard work.

It’s the planning, measuring, mixing, kneading, folding, proofing, baking, cooling, packaging, cleaning, and sometimes starting all over again because something didn’t turn out the way I thought it would.

It’s figuring out ingredient costs, keeping track of supplies, answering messages, posting on social media, coordinating pickups and deliveries, and trying to remember which batch is which while three other things are happening at the same time.

It’s baking in Arizona, where the heat can affect your dough, the oven is running, and the air conditioner is working overtime. It’s balancing a home, everyday responsibilities, and the dream of building something of your own.

It’s testing recipes, adjusting ingredients, learning from mistakes, celebrating the wins, and occasionally standing in the kitchen staring at a baking disaster, wondering what on earth just happened. 😂

And THIS is exactly why I write our story and share the good, the mid (as the tweens say), AND THE BAD!

I don’t want to share only the pretty, picture-perfect moments. I want to share the flour-covered counters, the recipe fails, the happy accidents, the lessons learned, and those moments when something finally turns out just right.

Because let’s be honest, social media can make everything look effortless. But behind every small business is a person putting in the hours, figuring things out as they go, and hoping that all the hard work eventually pays off.

I’m not a factory. I’m not a commercial bakery with a team of people behind the scenes. I’m a home baker building a business one loaf, one cookie, one little cake, and one customer at a time.

Some days the bread is beautiful. Some days it has other plans. Sometimes the recipe works perfectly, and sometimes I learn a lesson I’ll never forget. And yes, sometimes my kitchen looks like a flour bomb went off!

But that’s real baking. That’s real life. And that’s part of the story I want to share with you.

La Susa’s Bakes ~N~ Sweets isn’t just about baked goods. It’s about the journey, the love, the laughter, the mess, the determination, and the real person behind the apron.

Every order supports a dream. Every kind comment makes a difference. Every customer who chooses to shop small helps me keep building something that means so much to me.

So when you follow along, you’re not just watching me bake. You’re coming along for the ride, and trust me, it’s not always a smooth one! 😂

We’re going to celebrate the wins, laugh at the disasters, learn from the mistakes, and share the moments that make this whole adventure worthwhile.

The good, the mid, and the BAD. Because if we’re going to tell our story, we’re going to tell the whole story.

And, of course, we’re probably going to do it with a cup of coffee in our hands. ☕️

Welcome to the real, sometimes messy, always-from-the-heart world of La Susa’s Bakes ~N~ Sweets.

A little taste of home, with a whole lot of real life mixed in.
