The Great Pumpkin Bread Disaster — Part 2: Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way! 🎃😂

Yesterday, I introduced you to Vic and me, two little kids who woke up one weekend morning with a serious craving for pumpkin bread.

And naturally, we decided we were going to make it ourselves!

Now, keep in mind, we were little. The grown-ups were asleep, we were wearing our wonderfully cheesy 1970s Halloween costumes, and we had absolutely no idea what we were getting ourselves into.

But we had CONFIDENCE. 🤣

We headed straight for the pantry, raided the kitchen counter, and rummaged through the refrigerator. Flour? Check! Eggs? Check! Pumpkin? Check! Butter? OH, DEFINITELY!

We gathered everything we thought we needed and stuffed it into little bags.

We were practically professionals already!

Then came the great expedition down the hallway, dragging our bags of ingredients behind us. You know how hallways seem about seven miles long when you’re a little kid? Well, imagine dragging your entire baking operation along with you.

But we had a mission, and nothing was going to stop us.

Except, apparently, our complete lack of common sense when it came to choosing a workspace. 😂

You see, we weren’t heading to the kitchen.

WE WERE HEADING TO THE LIVING ROOM.

Because in the minds of two small children, why use a perfectly good kitchen when you have a nice, spacious living room?

And where, you might ask, did we decide to prepare our magnificent pumpkin bread?

On Mom’s couch.

YES. HER COUCH. 😳🤣

Now, before you get too comfortable laughing at us, let me ask you something.

Was it a nice leather couch that could be wiped clean in a jiffy?

Nope.

Was it some magical, stain-resistant fabric that would forgive two tiny bakers and their questionable culinary decisions?

Absolutely not!

This was the 1970s, folks. We were working with what we had!

And what we had was a couch that was about to become the most unfortunate baking surface in family history.

We had our ingredients. We had our utensils. We had our enthusiasm.

And we were about to make a MESS.

But we weren’t thinking about that. We were making pumpkin bread for our family! In our little minds, we were doing something wonderful.

What could possibly go wrong when two little chefs set up a bakery on the living room couch?

Oh, friends. EVERYTHING. 😂😂😂

Tomorrow, the flour flies, the pumpkin comes out, the Great Dane gets involved, and the barking begins.

And Mom and Dad finally wake up.

You do NOT want to miss the grand finale!

❤️ A little taste of home, one memory at a time.
