The Messy Baker

A Little Taste of Home

Sometimes when you’re building a business, you get out over your skis.

Sometimes you rush to do things and try to make other people happy and close the sale.

I learned today that rushing only makes me even more anxious than I already am.

Being shy is weird, and I have to remember to stay calm, set the tone, and take my time. That’s what makes my food so special.

I’ll never rush an order again just because I don’t know how to say no. I’ll learn how to say no eventually.

But today was a learning experience. Nothing wrong with that.

And if anything goes wrong, I’ll guarantee my food — which means I’ll make it right if the mistake is on my end. Because that’s what family is about. It doesn’t matter that you pay — you’re all still family.

That said, taste is personal, and not every dish will be to everyone’s liking — and that’s okay. A difference in taste isn’t something I can remake, just as a restaurant wouldn’t remake a dish simply because it wasn’t your favorite. What I will make right is a clear mistake on my end — something genuinely oversalted, underbaked, or not what you ordered. That’s where my guarantee applies.

My cooking has never, ever, ever been for anything except for love. And because of that, I will make sure I take care of each and every one of my customers to the best of my ability.

Side note — as long as it doesn’t exhaust me and make me broke! But I want you to enjoy what you get.

I am the messy baker. It’s not always going to be pretty. Sometimes a circle comes out as an oval. A little extra here or there. But it’s good, and it is made with love.

Love for you.
